Tribe beats Whitehouse
BY LELAND ACKER

In keeping with a long family tradition of great baseball players, Terrance Canady hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to give Jacksonville a 3-1 lead over the Whitehouse Wildcats in District 12 4A action Friday. Jacksonville went on to win 5-4.

Canady went two-for-four on the evening with a home run, a triple and one run scored. Jacksonville drew first blood in the second inning as second baseman Carson Lewis scored on a single hit by Stephen Markasky.

Whitehouse tied the score in the top of the fourth inning, but Canady's homer put the Tribe back in the lead. Three Wildcat runs scored in the top of the fifth gave Whitehouse a 4-3 lead, but Jacksonville responded with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the final lead 5-4.

Pitcher Frankie Almendarez got the start for Jacksonville, with Antwone Johnson getting the win. Hitters for Jacksonville were Canady, Cody Davlin (one-for-two with a walk), Markasky (two-for-three with a run and stolen base) and Lewis (one-for-three).

The win advanced Jacksonville to a 9-5 record, 1-1 in District 12 4A.
