Jackets top Martinsville, Douglass
BY LELAND ACKER

The Alto Yellowjackets are on a roll following two consecutive wins in the opening week of district play. Alto crushed Martinsville 15-2 and defeated Douglass 8-1.

"Tarlandus Mitchell was the winning pitcher in the Martinsville game," Head Coach John Paul Dixon said.

Rhett Gresham went threefor three from the plate with a triple, a double and a single. Mitchell struck out 14 batters and only allowed one hit.

The win gave the Jackets momentum going into Friday's game against the Douglass Indians. Alto took an 8-1 victory behind the pitching of Clint Dover, who is 4-0 on the season for the Jackets.

Lead hitters were Clayton Scott, Michael Parker and Jared Moore.

The victories lift Alto to an 8-1 record, 2-0 in district. The Mean Sting travels to Cushing Tuesday before returning home to face Chireno April 2.

The Jackets field a seniorladen team that is coming off of an appearance in the area finals last season.
