Starling walks further
Wardell Starling, chaplain of the Cherokee County retired school personnel walked the most steps in the organization's 2007 Walks-A-Million program.

Mr. Starling walked 3,600,100 steps totaling the equivalent of 1,800 miles. He will receive a certificate from the Texas Retired Teachers Association.

The Cherokee County retired school personnel walked 29,732,000 steps the equivalent of 14,866 miles in 2007.

The Walks-A-Million program at the Cherokee County retired school personnel is coordinated by Laura V. Hicks, health care committee chairman. Deborah L. Riggins is president of the organization. They expressed their appreciation to all those who participated.
