Bookkeeper's formal arraignment will be scheduled April or May A Cherokee County grand jury indicted Doris Robinson, city employee, on Feb. 25. Mrs. Robinson was charged with tampering with government records on July 1, 2006, and theft of more than $100,000 but less than $200,000 from Aug. 2, 2004 to Sept. 29, 2006. Bond of $5,000 on each count was set by 2nd Judicial District Judge Dwight Phifer. The bond totaled $10,000. Mrs. Robinson was employed by the city of Rusk as an utility billing clerk. At the time of her termination, she was serving as billing clerk/bookkeeper. A formal arraignment will be held in either April or May and pre-trial hearings will be scheduled later. Mrs. Robinson, wife of Jacksonville City Councilman Hubert Robinson, began her duties at Rusk City Hall in July 1994, She was placed on administrative leave in September 2006 and terminated in January 2007. Texas Ranger Rudy Flores began the investigation, which was completed by the district attorney's staff. |
