Rusk teacher held in Gregg County jail

Harold (Bo) Earl Scallon, 60, former Rusk High School teacher, is being held in the Gregg County Jail.

Mr. Scallon was indicted March 4 by a Tyler federal grand jury. Last week he and his attorney, Barrett Keith Brown of Sherman, filed documents waiving his right to a hearing. His plea of not guilty was entered and he will be detained until his trial scheduled for May 12.

Mr. Scallon was booked at the jail March 5.

He was indicted for possession and distribution of material involving the sexual exploitation of minors. The indictment alleges that Mr. Scallon distributed computer files containing child pornography and possessed a personal computer with a hard disk containing the sexually explicit material.

He faces five-20 years in prison if convicted of the distribution charge and up to 10 years for the possession count.
