Early voting starts March 31 for commissioner's run-off

Early voting for the April 8 Democratic primary election is scheduled for March 31- April 4.

There will not be a Republican second primary election.

Early voting sites include:

• Cherokee County Courthouse in Rusk

• A. Frank Smith United Methodist Church in Alto

• The Senior Citizens Center in Jacksonville

The only local race will be for County Commissioner Pct. 3. Incumbent Moody Glass Jr. and former commissioner F.E. Hassell are candidates for the position.

Mr. Glass received 720 votes or 47.52 percent, compared to 437 votes or 28.84 percent for Mr. Hassell.

Voters will be asked to select a nominee for Railroad Commission. Candidates for this position are Mark Thompson and Dale Henry.
