Ballot set for May 10 city, school races

Deadline for places on the May 10 city and school elections was Monday.

Rusk and Jacksonville city voters will be asked to consider charter amendments.

Those filing include incumbents Rusk city councilmen Don Jones, District 3; Donald Woodard, District 4; and Sam Florian, District 5. They are running unopposed.

Filing for two places on the Rusk school board are incumbents Frances Long and Dr. Anthony Holcomb and challengers Oliver Sturns and Terry Downs.

At Alto four persons have filed for two seats on the school board. Candidates for school board are incumbent Freddie Johnson and challengers Marvin Whitfield, Lionel Whitaker and Terry Black.

Seeking election to the Alto city council are incumbent Earl Clark, incumbent Monty Collins and Randy Selman, candidates for three council seats and Annie Walker, candidate for mayor.

Candidates for the Jacksonville city council are incumbent Jeff Smith, District 2; and incumbent Phyllis Wilburn and challengers Rob Beall and James Hugghins, District 4.

Asking for election to two places on the Jacksonville school board are incumbent James Houser and Ken Smith, place 4; and incumbent Jimmy Brown, Belinda Sims and Sarah Jane Robinson, place 3.

Candidates for the Wells city council's two full terms are Roy White, incumbent, Joe Hedgepath and Robert Kalka; and a one-year unexpired term, Chris Pounds. Candidates for mayor are incumbent James Maddox and challenger Corbitt Doss.

Three incumbents are seeking election to the Wells school board. They are T. Wayne Montes and Donnie Carver, three year terms and Jason Hopper, a one-year unexpired term.

Two incumbents, Clay Wilkerson and Michael Davis, are asking for re-election to the New Summerfield school board.

Unopposed candidates for the Reklaw city council are incumbent mayor Bill Traweek; and incumbent councilman Danny Christopher and Bob Wick.

Candidates for two places on the New Summerfield city council are incumbents Sheri Solomon and Karie Bolton and challenger Don Williams.

Seeking election to the Gallatin city council are two incumbents George Bostock and Jonell Spedale.
