Rusk youth wins calf

John Eckerman, member of the Rusk FFA, was among those students winning a calf during the Houston Rodeo calf scramble. There were 28 exhibitors, representing 4-H clubs and FFA chapters across the state of Texas, competing for the 14 calves. He received $1,250 calf purchase certificate. The certificate will be used for the purchase of a registered beef heifer. In 2009, he will return with the heifer for a special competition and a $250 bonus from his donor.
