RUSK LIONS CLUB Jeffrey Johnson spoke at the March 7 meeting concerning the Rusk Lions Club golf tournament to begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, March 15. Entry fee is $50 per person. Format is a four person scramble. Total team handicap must total 48 or more. The highest counted handicap is 20. Limited carts are available. Persons interested in participating must sign up early. They may call Birmingham Forest Golf Club at (903) 683-9518 or e-mail www.birminghamgolfclub.net. Cash prizes will be awarded. First prize is $500; second prize, $300; and third prize, $200. Prizes are based on full field. There will be prizes for longest drive, closest to the hole, vegas hole and five iron blast. Lunch will be provided. Proceeds will benefit the Rusk Lions Club in establishing scholarships for the Collin Carroll Memorial Fund. Ann Brown distributed Rusk Lions Club Relay for Life raffle tickets for Dallas Cowboy preseason tickets for $2 each. The winner will receive two free tickets to a Cowboy football game, plus blue parking, plus $100. President Vic Whadford read a 'thank you' letter from Donna Justice from the Crisis Center of Anderson & Cherokee Counties for allowing her to bring her program. A 'thank you' was received from Gregory Grabowski, president & CEO for Leader Dogs for the Blind in Rochester, Mich. thanking the club for it's donation to their program. They train leader dogs, provide cane training, trekker and computer skills courses to help the blind people all over the world. |
