JMS wins 2nd place for UIL play

Jacksonville Middle School's production of "The Girl in the Mirror" won a second place trophy in UIL competition Feb. 22 at Whitehouse.
In addition to the second place trophy and silver medals the students won three acting awards and one technical award. Honorable All Star Cast award was given to Analisha Menefee; All Star Cast medals were presented to Natalie Haddad and Jalyn Stone.
Will Forman won outstanding Technical Award.
Cast and crew of the play included Natalie Haddad, Jalyn Stone, Sam Oliver, Analisha Menefee, Marcody Johnson, Shelby Turney, Karen Gilstrap, Morgan Weaver, Brayan Diaz, Amanda Hinkle, Ever Martinez, Amanda Twedt, Patrick Foster, James Burns, Rachel Handsome, Mitchell Arnold, Shelby Bland, Will Forman, Michella Roman, Austin Dewolfe, Thomas Alberts, Janeth Tajia and Ilse Carreon
On March 22 the students will present "A Night of One Acts" in the JHS Auditorium with Jacksonville Middle School being the first act and the Jacksonville High School Curtain Club performing the second act.
Judge for the contest, Laurie Durrett, commented that this contest "blew away" the New York State High School finals of a one act play contest she recently attended. As a point of Texas pride, it is a widely accepted fact that Texas One Act Play Contest is the largest in the world with almost 1,500 high schools and junior high schools participating.
