Mark Lanier sings at Rusk church
      Mark Lanier will be presented in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 15 at Memorial Missionary Baptist Church. He will sing with a live band. Mr. Lanier is noted composer and many of his songs are known as gospel classics.

Chamber will host Fair on the Square May 23-24
      The Rusk Chamber of Commerce will host the 17th annual Fair on the Square May 23-24. The dance has been moved from Saturday to Friday evening. Vendors are being sought for the event. The annual Fair on the Square will be held from 9 a.m.-4p.m. Saturday, May 24.

Wells FFA sets rabies clinic
      The Wells FFA will sponsor a rabies vaccination and dog flea dip clinic from 6-7 p.m. Friday, March 7 at the Ag Shop behind the high school. DECISION 2008 - TEXAS PRIMARY ELECTION
Runoff election is April 8
      A run-off election will be held April 8. Only one local race is contested. In the bid for Cherokee County Commissioners, Pct. 3, Moody Glass Jr., the incumbent, will face F.E. Hassell on the Democratic ticket. The final day to register to vote in the April 8 election is March 10.

Grand jury returns 19 indictments
      Indictments returned by a Cherokee County Grand Jury on Feb. 26 included one aggravated sexual assault of a child, one sexual assault, three assaults, two possessions of controlled substances, five thefts, three for driving while intoxicated, two burglaries and two forgeries.

Church plans revival
      Timothy Petty, evangelist, will be speaker for the March 9-12 revival at Victory Chapel Assembly of God Church, 14323 State Highway 110 N. at New Summerfield. Services are scheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday-Wednesday.

      JISD will present "Internet Safety" with Janet Corder at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 11 in the Jacksonville High School auditorium. Ms. Corder currently serves as a vice-president in the Texas Computer Education Association and is employed by Carroll ISD as Instructional Technology Coordinator.
