Eagles fall to Hudson Hornets
Hudson advances to playoffs

Tuesday's season finale between the Rusk Eagles and the Hudson Hornets summed up the year's results for the Eagles, victory is just beyond the finger-tips.

Rusk fell to Hudson 76-64 in a game that saw numerous momentum shifts and a slam dunk by J.J. Session. The loss dropped Rusk to an 0-14 district record, while Hudson advanced to a 9-5 district record.

The Hornets defeated Central 61-55 in a district playoff game Friday to advance to the Bi-district championship game against Madisonville.

Rusk opened the game against Hudson with a 17-15 lead at the end of the first quarter. Hudson rebounded in the second quarter to take a 36-34 lead at halftime. Session led scoring with 16 points, shooting four-for-seven from the free throw line.

Demarcus Skinner and Michael Katon followed with 11 points each.

Skinner had one threepointer while Katon sunk two and went one-for-two from the free throw line.

Horrace Lewis had 10 points. John David Beard sank three three-pointers to score nine points.

Other scorers were Chance Cleaver (4), Bobby McDuff (2) and Quinn Anthony (1).

Rusk will return to the hardwood next season in a new gymnasium, in a new district which will include the Jasper Bulldogs.
