Goat raisers tour scheduled Feb. 16 Prairie View A&M University Cooperative Extension Agents, Crispin Skinner and Rene' McCracken in association with the East Texas Goat Raisers Association will host "A Day in the Life of a Goat Producer in East Texas." The event is planned for Saturday, Feb. 16, This seminar begins with registration and check-in at 9 a.m. at the Texas Books and Gifts in Bullard on U.S. Highway 69. Participants will go to two local goat farms to get a first hand view of some sustainable operations. James Kyle's Lookout Valley Meat Goats and Pierce's England Creek Farm both have successful and uniquely working meat goat ranches located in Jacksonville. The tours will conclude back at the Book Store for a barbecue plate lunch served by The East Texas Meat Goat Junior Show Team. Each registered participant will receive a production manual or "Barn Bible." There will be a question and answer wrap up session from 1-2 p.m. at The Texas Book Store.
