RACHEL (NANNY MA) PARKER

Funeral for Rachel (Nanny Ma) Parker, 87, of Rusk was at 2 p.m. Friday, in the Wallace Thompson Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Lloyd Lane and Pastor Keith Hassell officiating. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Parker died Jan. 29. She was born Sept. 23, 1920, in Rusk to Alex Lafayette and Annie Lee Wallace George.

She lived most of her life in Rusk. She was a long time member of Lone Oak Baptist Church, a member of Grace Fellowship Church and was a current member of Miracle Christian Center in Buffalo. She retired from Nichols Industry in Jacksonville after many years of service. After retiring, she worked in childcare and many area children called her "Nanny Ma." Preceding her in death were her husband, Leonard Parker in 1993; and one brother and three sisters.

Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Leslie and Doris Parker of Rusk; a brother, Nolan George of Brazoria; two sisters, Mildred Jackson of Dallas and Lorene Wofford of Lake Jackson; four grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Grandsons and great-grandsons served as pallbearers.
