Bowen accepts new ETMC post
The announcement was made by ETMC Senior Vice President for Affiliate Operations Jerry Massey. Mr. Bowen will lead the system's business development strategy in affiliate markets across East Texas. Jack Endres, associate administrator of ETMC Athens, will serve as interim administrator while a search is conducted for Mr. Bowen's replacement. "Steve has served ETMC Jacksonville since 1987, and provided steady guidance and leadership through many transitions," Mr. Massey said. "He has led the hospital's operations when it was an independent community hospital, and guided it through its affiliation with the ETMC system. More recently, he led ETMC Jacksonville through tremendous renewal projects, such as the $30 million enhancements completed in 2002, the recent renovation of patient care areas on the second floor and the just-completed Emergency Department expansion project." Mr. Massey praised Mr. Bowen for his statewide leadership in rural healthcare, where he served a two-year term as president of the Texas Rural Health Association.
Mr. Endres has served as the associate administrator of ETMC Athens since May 2002. At ETMC Athens, he is responsible for the direct over- sight of all hospital departments, except those reporting to nursing and finance. He has also previously served as the interim administrator at ETMC Clarksville. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Mr. Endres served as the administrator of the Muenster Memorial Hospital in Muenster from 1992-2002, where he was responsible for hospital operations and finance. He is a graduate of the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, with a major in finance. Subsequently, he graduated from the Southern Methodist University School of Law with a Juris Doctor, and received numerous honors. Endres is also a graduate of the New York University School of Law, having earned the Master of Laws (in Taxation). He worked as an attorney in the Winstead, Sechrest and Minick firm in Dallas for six years prior to entering healthcare administration. Currently, Mr. Endres serves on the executive committee of the Texas Organization of Rural and Community Hospitals, having served as the group's chairman from 2002-2004. He is also a member of the TORCH Management Services board of directors, the Texas Hospital Association's Council on Policy Development and Policy Committee on Trauma and Emergency Services. He is a member of the Trinity Valley Community College board of trustees and is involved in other civic organizations. "I look forward to working with the excellent employees and medical staff of ETMC Jacksonville through this transition, as we work to exceed the expectations of our patients," he said. |
