Jacksonville native and NFLquarterback Luke McCown to speak at Rotary today Jacksonville native and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Luke McCown will speak at the Rotary Club meeting at noon today at the Southern Cherokee Federal Credit Union on N. Henderson St. in Rusk. McCown is a 2000 graduate of Jacksonville High School, leading the Fightin' Indians football team to multiple playoff appearances, before being recruited by Louisiana Tech. After playing four years at Louisiana Tech, McCown was drafted in the 2004 NFLdraft by the Cleveland Browns. He was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2005. After suffering a knee injury in 2006, McCown made a comeback in the 2007 season, playing in five games and starting three. His most noteable performance in 2007 came when he started in place of the injured Jeff Garcia against the New Orleans Saints, Dec. 2, 2007. McCown completed 29 of 37 passes for two touchdowns in the Bucs' 27-23 win over the Saints. The Rotary Club will give away a football signed by McCown in a raffle drawing at the meeting. |
