LMC slates Scholar Dollars party

The annual Scholar Dollars Pizza Party at Lon Morris will be held at 5 p.m, Feb, 6, at the college cafeteria, corner of College Ave, and Devereux Street, in Jacksonville. The event sponsored by Lon Morris College and Trinity Mother Frances Health System- Jacksonville.

Schools participating are Bullard, Frankston, Jacksonville, Neches, New Summerfield and Rusk.

There are almost 500 students in the program.

Earlier in the day Miss Texas will be speaker for the 11 a.m. Lon Morris chapel service. She will dance and speak.

Miss Texas 2007 Molly Hazlett will be introduced by Dr. Miles McCall, college president, She will speak on Drug Awareness.

Following Miss Texas's talk there will be a comedy presentation by Comedy Sportz of Houston.

After the show the group will walk to the Bob Smith Gymnasium for the Lon Morris Trinity Valley basketball game.

Scholar Dollars students will be admitted free by wearing their Scholar Dollars t-shirts or by bringing their membership cards.

There will be no charge for families of Scholar Dollars students.

Scholar Dollars is a grades for scholarship program that was started in 2001 by Lon Morris College and Trinity Mother Frances Health System.

Students entering the seventh grade can begin earning savings dollars for college at LMC.

For every A (each six weeks), a student can earn $20 in their credit account, for every B, $12 and every C, $3. The student sends a copy of their report card to LMC at the end of each semester.

In August, the student receives a statement of the credit in their account.
