Group wants to create lighthouse from Conrad's schooner
EDMUND AND NANCY BOJARSKI

The Joseph Conrad Foundation (JCF), established as a nonprofit 501(3)C organization at the old Rusk Meat and Locker plant in Rusk in 1995, is planning a worldwide campaign to celebrate the Anglo-Polish novelist's sesquicentennial by turning the 120-foot keel of his famous, three-masted schooner, the "Otago," into a universally recognizable landmark in the form of a lighthouse.

The JCF owns the remains of the ship, which are beached in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.

The JCF will be grateful for any contributions, criticisms, suggestions in any form, with contributions of computer time and skills at a premium.

All contributions in whatever form will be recognized on the JCF's websites, "Conrad Concepts," at http://members.tripod. com/~JTKNK/concepts. htm. For more information, please call (903) 690-0312 or write JCF at 1867 Hwy. 149, Carthage, Tx. 75633.
