Only a coward dumps unwanted pups on others

A word to the cowardly irresponsible person(s) who "dumped" their mixed breed litter of puppies at our gate at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16 and then drove off: We saw you.

Lucky for you it did not enter our mind that you were up to something so despicable or we would have

(a) followed you or

(b) gotten a description of your vehicle or license number to give to the sheriff.

Our advice: grow up; aim for at least a moderate level of humanity; respect all God's creatures; teach your children by example; spay or neuter your pets or choose not to have any.

In case you are wondering, or have a fleeting moment of conscience, the three puppies that made their way to our door were fed and slept in our storeroom.

When the sun comes up, we will look for any others that are still out in the field.

We will feed them again, and try to find a shelter to take them or dispose of them in some humane way.

To do anything less would make us equal to you.
