WALTER B. HELMS Funeral for Walter B. Helms, 84, of Jacksonville, was at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Autry Funeral Home chapel with Bishops Rudy Bond and R.C. Helms, and Tony Rollins officiating. Burial was in Meador Cemetery. Mr. Helms died Jan. 18. He was born Dec. 15, 1923, in Cushman, Ark. He retired as an inspector for Gray Tool Co., was a member of New Life Worship Center in Tyler, and co-pastored at First Pentecostal Church of God in Jacksonville for 15 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Helms; daughter, Wanda Redd; brothers, James, Genie and Verdell; and sisters, Mary Wilkerson and Marie Melton. Survivors include his wife, Addie Helms of Jacksonville; a son, Walter Helms of Spring; two daughters, Dorothy Rollins and Linda Girault, both of Jacksonville; a stepdaughter, Kathy Rollins of Jacksonville; five stepsons, John Soley of Huffman, Phillip Soley of Spring, Steve Soley of Kingwood, Doug Soley of Jacksonville, and Gary Soley of Angleton; three brothers, Bishop R.C. Helms of Corsicana, D.L. Helms of Jacksonville, and Elmer Helms of Celeste; a sister, Ruby Holbert of Houston; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four stepgreat grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Tony Rollins, Wesley Wilson, Kevin Mc- Carty, Jonathan Sparks, Adam Alonso, Weldon Taylor, Erich Isayev and Ron Francis. |
