DALTON WAYNE MAYES

Funeral for Dalton Wayne Mayes, 79, of Reklaw was at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Reklaw Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Walles officiating. Burial was in Walker Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Mayes died Jan. 16. He was born June 24, 1928, in San Augustine to Arthur and Edna Willis Mayes. He retired in 1989 from Fleetwood after 15 years as a CDL truck driver. He lived in Ft. Worth, Longview and Huntington before moving to Reklaw 24 years ago. He served as a corporal in the U. S. Air Force during World War II. He enlisted Jan. 22, 1946, in Houston and was discharged Jan. 21, 1949, in Fort Worth. He was a member of Reklaw Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife, Sudie Mayes of Reklaw; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Monty Cain of Fort Worth and Vickie and Bill Kasten of Grapevine; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles Wayne and Betty Mayes of Keller; two step-sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Mary King of Las Vegas, Nev. and Joe and Bonita King of (Pace) Pensacola, Fla.; two stepdaughters and a step-son-inlaw, Jackie Burke of Longview and Julie and Jack Western of Aledo; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Cary Dromgoole, Erik Sanders, Randy King, Steven Tugwell, Bob Wick and Glen Bomer. Honorary pallbearers were Raymond Vermillion, John Lilly and Garland Forrest. Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home was in charge.
