Plans are underway for Karing for Kids fair

"Karing for Kids" Health Fair is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Rusk Civic Center. The Kiwanis Club of Rusk saw a need for an area Health Fair and contacted Cherokee County Health Department last spring.

From there it has grown to include City of Rusk, Rusk Rotary Club, Rusk Fire Department, Rusk Police Department, Jerry Ocker DDS, Cherokee County Home Extension Office, Rusk ISD - Primary, Elementary and Intermediate campuses, Rusk Chamber of Commerce, Rusk Lions Club, HOPE, WIC, Crises Center of Anderson & Cherokee Counties and Trinity Mother Frances.

Texas National Bank, Brookshire Bros. and Birmingham Golf Course are supporters of the event.

There will be health and safety education information for children 10 years of age and younger along with their parents.

There is no cost to attend and children can register to win two tickets to ride Texas State Railroad.

The last planning meeting will be at noon Jan. 29 at the Southern Cherokee Federal Credit Union.

The public is invited to attend.
