Ruskites receive degrees

Three Rusk residents were among 651 degree candidates recognized by The University of Texas at Tyler in fall commencement ceremonies held Dec. 14 and 15.

Rusk residents and their degrees are: Kelan M. Eckerman Jr. received a B.S. degree in political science; and Bradley E. Welch and Brian Garner, B.S. degrees in industrial technology.

President Rodney H. Mabry gave commencement remarks and certified the degree candidates. Presentations of degree candidates were made by the deans of each of the university's colleges.

One of the 15 campuses of the UT System, UT Tyler offers excellence in teaching, research, artistic performance and community service. More than 70 undergraduate and graduate degrees are available at UT Tyler, which has an enrollment of more than 6,000 high-ability students at its campuses in Tyler, Longview and Palestine.
