Alto girls win two consecutive basketball games

The Alto Lady Jackets basketball team defeated the Latexo Lady Lions 48-39 Friday in Latexo.

Lead scorer for Alto was Amber Morrison with 13 points, followed by Kaylan Thacker (12), Katina Sturns (10), Teoshue Badgett (9), La Quendal Tyler (3) and Coresa Poole (1).

Alto trailed by three points at half time before out-scoring Latexo 19-6 in the third quarter to take control of the game. The win lifts the Lady Jackets to an 8-10 record with a 2-1 record in district.

The Lady Jackets defeated the Grapeland Sandiettes 65-48 Jan. 8. Amber Morrison led the attack with 23 points, two three-pointers, three steals, one blocked shot and three rebounds. Kaylan Thacker added 17 points with two steals, three blocks and five rebounds.

Other scorers were: La Quendal Tyler (12), Katina Sturns (11) and Kristie Woodard (2).

The Lady Jackets are playing under first year basketball coach Jim Dillard.
