Chamber banquet set for Saturday

Rusk will roll out the red carpet Saturday evening for the annual chamber of commerce membership banquet at Rusk Junior High School cafeteria. The doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. The meal will be catered by chamber member Sadler's Kitchen and Catering in Jacksonville. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased at the chamber office.

Also tickets are available for a 32 inch flat screen television for $5 per ticket and $20 for five tickets. The raffle tickets are on sale at the chamber office.

Those attending are asked to come dressed in 1950s attire.

During the evening's festivities a citizen of the year will be announced by last year's recipient, Rusk State Hospital Superintendent Ted Debbs. A business woman and business man of the year will be announced by Penny and Roy Reynolds, recipients of the award last year.

Theresa Langley will take over the reins of leading the chamber activities as president during the year 2008. Outgoing president is Penny Reynolds. New chamber directors will be installed.

Serving as joint masters of ceremonies and providing entertainment will be 369th District Court Judge Bascom Bentley and County Judge Chris Davis. An overhead video show will be presented prior to the banquet.

A sock hop will follow the banquet.
