John Ament named to board Jacksonville attorney, John S. Ament, was recently selected for membership by the American Board of Trial Advocates. ABOTA membership consists of more than 6,300 trial lawyers across the country representing equally the plaintiff and defense bars as well as judges. There are 93 chapters in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Since its inception in 1958, ABOTA's primary mission has been the preservation of the civil jury trial right guaranteed by the Seventh Amendment to the United States Constitution. Mr. Ament graduated from Baylor University School of Law in 1969 and has lived and practiced law in Jacksonville since that time. Currently, he is a solo practitioner and limits his practice to civil litigation and related matters. He has served as president of the Cherokee County Bar Association, the Cherokee County Mental Retardation Association and the Jacksonville Jaycees. In addition, he served as a director of East Texas Legal Aid and presently serves as a director of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association. He is a Sustaining Life Member of the Texas Bar Foundation and a member of the American Associates for Justice. Mr. Ament is licensed to practice in all Texas state courts, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, the U. S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. |
