Nominations Open for JISD Passport Program-Grades 1-11

Forms for nominating students currently in grades one-11 for the JISD Passport Gifted/Talented Program will be available at school offices Tuesday, Jan. 22. Deadline for submitting nominations is Friday, Feb. 22.

The Passport Program is intended to meet the needs of students who exhibit an exceptionally high general intellectual ability or who excel in any or all academic areas (language arts, math, science, social studies). Any student, including those in special programs, may be nominated. Students are identified for the program on the basis of standardized test scores, teacher/parent questionnaires and a portfolio review of the student's work. Students are assessed in languages they understand or with nonverbal tests. Screening of nominees will occur during February, March, and April. Students in grades one-11 who are identified for the program will begin Passport classes next school year.

Completed nomination forms should be returned to the office of the principal or mailed to Judy Terry, Director of Curriculum, P. O. Box 631, Jacksonville 75766 on or before Feb. 22. For questions or further information contact: Ms. Terry, (903) 586-6511 ext.18; or jterry@jacksonvilleisd.org.
