Green tells candidacy for constable position

MARK GREEN
Mark Green, 41 of Alto has announced his candidacy for Precinct 2 constable in the March Democratic Primary election.

Mr. Green is a 1985 Alto High School graduate. He studied at the Universal Technical Institute and graduated from the East Texas Police Academy in Kilgore. He has an advanced peace officer License and 1,072 mandates training hours with TCLEOSE.

Mr. Green worked for six years as a correctional officer with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division and he also served as a deputy constable in Anderson County where he acquired experience in the civil process.

He also worked as chief warrant officer for the Coffee city police department and chief of police for Cuney. He also worked at the Wells police department.

Mr. Green worked 10 years for the Rusk police department. He was promoted to corporal and later to K-9 officer where he utilized the drug dog for search of narcotics, cadavers and tracking missing people.

He also worked with the Cherokee County Special Projects Unit for the district attorney's office.

He has been a reserve police officer for the Alto police department for the past four years. Mr. Green has worked in law enforcement for the past 17 years.

He is a member of the Cherokee County Peace Officers Association and Alto Trail Riders Association. He has also performed drug awareness programs for churches, schools, colleges and other organizations and demonstrations.

He has had involvement in numerous social and professional organizations such as founder of the "Jackson youth center, founder of "Minorities in Law Enforcement," vicepresident of the youth softball program, president of the Alto Trail Riders Association and is a member of the National Narcotics Detective Association (DOS).

Children are a priority to Mr. Green. He opened a youth center in Rusk to help educate the children on safety, social issues and putting an overall emphasis on education. He believes that it is very important that law enforcement assist parents in helping keep their children in school and out of "gangs."

Mr. Green stated "if elected I will work very closely with the schools and communities to establish an 'anti-drug' and a He also stated, "I will work hand-in-hand with the community to put a stop to community crimes."
