Emergency $65.8 million appropriation sought to beef up security

Adopting a new "zero tolerance" policy on contraband, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice unveiled a $65.8 million plan to beef up security at the state's 112 prisons. Warden Todd Foxworth, who oversees the Skyview and Hodge units in Rusk, attended a meeting last Wednesday in Austin to learn more about the plan's phases. More...

An amended ballot recount in the District 11 house of representatives race changed incumbent state Rep. Chuck Hopson's lead to 125 votes over challenger Brian K. Walker.
