      The motto of this year's Rusk varsity boys' basketball team may well be "don't blink." Those worried about an energy crisis could probably find enough to power all of Cherokee County at Rusk basketball practices. Head Coach Tracy Kincade said that speed and energy is exactly what he wants from his team.

Alto's Leon places 37th
      Alto sophomore Jose Leon placed 37th in Class 1A at the UIL Texas State Cross Country Championships, held this past weekend at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. Leon turned in a time of 18:14.13, a pace of 5:51 per meter. Jason Hamilton of Big Sandy won the individual race in a time of 16:33.90.
