Church serves free Thanksgiving dinner
      Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Jacksonville will open its doors Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, to all for a free traditional meal. Dinner will be served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. No reservations are required for those who could are asked to call and let the church know they are coming.

The Legacy hosts bridal fair
      The Legacy, East Texas' newest wedding and events venue, sponsored its grand opening and bridal faire from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2. The premiere bridal event showcased The Legacy. A style show was presented by Elaine's and Weddings A to Z bridal. Many East Texas' wedding vendors entertained and displayed arrangements for the guests.

Open house planned at Old Farmhouse
      Old Farmhouse Pottery's 17th annual open house is planned for 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 22-23. David Hendley will demonstrate the art of pottery making and his wife, Karen, will offer homemade cookies. There will be music on the front porch. In addition there will be new, wood-fired, stoneware pots to view and purchase.

Nacogdoches hospital award presentation is today
      A special award presentation for Nacogdoches Medical Center will be held in the women's Center at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19. HealthGrades, the leading independent healthcare ratings company, will present the Nacogdoches Medical Center team with the prestigious HealthGrades Cardiac Surgery Excellence Award for 2009.

Concert planned
      The Acclaim Quartet will be at Branded By Christ Cowboy Church, Highway 110, about seven miles south of Rusk, at 10 a.m. Sunday Nov. 23. Acclaim, based out of Greenville, Ohio, is a fulltime ministry, with a calling and desire to reach lost souls for Christ. The quartet's main goal is to present the message of Jesus Christ and the plan of salvation.

Board hears proposal to transfer water from Toledo Bend to North Texas in 2060
      Members of the East Texas Regional Water Planning Group (Region I) recently heard a series of reports focusing on planning projects underway in the 20-county area. The reports were part of the group's continuing work on Round 3 of Phase I of regional planning in East Texas.
