Band seeks donations
      The Hometown Scholarship Program, presented by local Dodge dealers including Pearman Motor Co. along with Alto annual charity fund raising campaign will generate scholarship funds for band students. The Hometown Scholarship Program is part of Pearman Motor Company's continuing commitment to the hometown community.

Shady Grove slates revival
      Revival services will be at 7:45 p.m. Oct. 13-17 at the Shady Grove COGIC. Speaker will be Evangelist Evelyn Timmons. Supt. Donnie Timmons is the host pastor. Patricia Brown is assistant secretary. The church is located at 600 Çherokee St. in Rusk.

Senior Finale sets meeting
      A meeting of the Rusk Senior Finale is planned for 5:30 pm. Monday, Oct. 13, at the high school cafeteria. Plans will be made for a haunted hay ride. Proceeds will go toward expenses for the annual Senior Finale following graduation.

1st Baptist, lecture speaker
     k Wade Longcrier, associate pastor of the Carrollton First Baptist Church, will be featured speaker for the Manley Distinguished Lecture Series at Jacksonville College at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct.13, in Buckner Chapel. He is also scheduled to speak at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12 at the Rusk First Baptist Church. He is pictured with his family.

99th birthday celebration
     Louise Nicholson of Rusk visits Sept. 27 with long-time friends Eddie B. Vining, left, and Carmen Dotson, right, at her 99th birthday celebration. Mrs. Nicholson was honored at a reception that afternoon at the First United Methodist Church. The reception had originally been planned for Saturday, Sept. 13 but was postponed because of Hurricane Ike.
