Frankston Indians hand Alto second season defeat
District play starts Friday with Grapeland Sandies
      Anyone in Cherokee County panicked about the fact that the Alto Yellowjackets have lost two games this season, feel free to stop gnashing teeth and wringing hands. I'm here to report that on Monday, the sun did indeed come out again, the birds sang, and The Mean Sting was on the field, taking care of the business of preparing for Grapeland.

Eagles 'keep the faith' to turn season around
      RUSK - In 1984, Billy Joel released a song called "Keeping the Faith." In the song, the crooner talks about his younger days and how he regrets nothing he's done. He says that the "past is something that never got in my way.

Indians pick up first win in shootout, 49-35
Jacksonville, Palestine combine for 813 total yards of offense, 565 rushing
      PALESTINE - I'm sure by the time you're reading this, the scoreboard at Wildcat Stadium has stopped smoking. Jacksonville's Kendrick Hatton had a career night, rushing for 130 yards and four touchdowns as the Indians picked up their first win of the season, beating the Palestine Wildcasts, 49-35 last Friday in non-district football action.

RUSK HOMECOMING '08
Festivities begin 7 p.m. Friday
      Rusk High School homecoming festivities will begin at 7 p.m. Friday at Eagle Stadium. The annual school bonfire is planned for Wednesday at dusk behind the softball field. Queen candidates are Kala Finley, Rachel Ellzey, Calah Clark and Vadira Santiago. Each class is represented by two duchesses.
