CCAD will collect taxes beginning Oct. 1
      Effective Oct. 1, taxpayers in the City of Jacksonville will pay their property taxes to the Cherokee County Appraisal District instead of city hall. Jacksonville engaged CCAD Aug. 22 to collect city property taxes. Present at the contract signing were City Manager Mo Raissi, Mayor Robert Haberle, CCAD Board Chairman James Houser and Chief Appraiser Lee Flowers.

Birthday party rescheduled for Sept. 27
      Louise Nicholson's 99th birthday celebration has been rescheduled for 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at the First United Methodist Church. The party was originally scheduled for Sept. 13. It was cancelled because of Hurricane Ike.

RHS yearbooks have arrived
      The 2007-2008 Rusk Aerie has arrived at Rusk High School and will be distributed from 3-5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29 and from 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30 in Room 8. Extra copies may be purchased for $35. For more information call Rusk High School at (903) 683-5401.

Friends of the Library schedule book sale in Jacksonville
      The Friends of the Library Book Sale is scheduled from Friday, Oct. 3-Sunday, Oct. 5 at the Jacksonville Public Library, 502 South Jackson Street. Friday, Oct. 3, is "Friends Preview Day." Only those who volunteered to help set up and/or work at the sale, and those who are members of the Friends of the Library will be allowed in to view and purchase books on this day.

      Jason and Laura Reina of Dallas announce the arrival of their first child, a daughter, Madeline Carys, on Sunday, June 29 at 11:07 p.m. at Presbyterian Hospital, Plano. She weighed six pounds 3.5 ounces and measured 19.7 inches in length.
