Jacksonville's annual Music Jam set
      The third annual J'Ville Music Jam shopping spree is scheduled for Oct. 4. Tickets are being sold and may be redeemed at any Chamber of Commerce business. First place is $500; second place, $250; and third place $100. Tickets are $10 for three chances to win.

Shirley Reese presents program on HOPE
      Jim Cromwell introduced Shirley Reese R. N., case manager for Project HOPE. HOPE provides hope to less fortunate persons and underinsured through it's "Partners in Health" program. HOPE has helped 56 people through primary health care physicians. Through emergency antibiotic prescriptions HOPE helped 22 people.

Rusk Band Boosters sponsor raffle
      The Rusk Band Boosters will sponsor a raffle in support of the Rusk Eagle Band. Tickets are $1 each. The prizes include $100 gas card; $100 Brookshire grocery card and a propane gas grill. Tickets should be purchased prior to Oct. 3 from any junior high or high school band members. Raffle tickets may also be purchased at all home football games.

Republicans register voters
      There will be a voter register drive at the Downtown Exchange, 222 S. Bolton and at Cherokee County Republican Party headquarters at 1650 S. Jackson, Jacksonville from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays, Sept. 20 and Sept. 27. Also registration is available at the Republican headquarters from 2-4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Kim DeLeon named SCFCU new manager
      Kim DeLeon from Wharton, is the new manager/CEO of the Southern Cherokee Federal Credit Union. She replaces Rita Hilliard, who is retiring. Mrs. DeLeon has worked for credit unions for the past 30 years. She was CEO of the Texas Gulf in Sugarland for 16 years.

RHS yearbooks have arrived
      The 2007-2008 Rusk Aerie has arrived at Rusk High School and will be distributed from 3-5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29 and from 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30 in Room 8. Extra copies may be purchased for $35. For more information call Rusk High School at (903) 683-5401.

Rusk, Rusk Rural drinking water doesn't have to be boiled
      The boil water rule was lifted Friday in Rusk. Local citizens can drink and use water directly from the tap. The boil water requirement for Rusk Rural Water Corporation was lifted Tuesday. Local water customers can return to normal water use.

Spaghetti dinner will benefit Ronnie and Haley Hannah after housefire
      A spaghetti supper and silent auction will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Alto Fire Station to benefit the Ronnie and Haley Hannah family. A downed power line caused a fire, which destroyed the Hannah home on Cold Springs Road.
