Church sponsors club
      The Rusk Church of Christ has resumed its Pioneer Club from 7-8 p.m. each Wednesday. The club is for children ages two through high school. The church membership invites all area children to join. There will be art, group games, puppets, sewing, cooking and clay modeling. Persons with questions may call (903) 683-4003 or (903) 586-3975.

Alto Homecoming Festival set for Sept. 20
      The Cloverleaf 4-H Club will host the Alto Homecoming Festival and parade on Sept. 20. The parade will line up at the Alto Missionary Baptist Church at 9 a.m. and the parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. There is no entry fee for the parade.

Rusk High School, Junior High plan open house
      Open house is planned from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, at Rusk High School. Rusk Junior High's open house will be from 4-6 p.m. These events will give parents an opportunity to meet their children's teachers. All parents and persons from the community are invited.

Persons who did not receive voter registrations should call
      Cherokee County citizens who have not received their new voter registration card in the mail are asked to contact the tax assessor-collector office at (903) 683-1400. Many cards were returned due to invalid addresses, said Connie Quine, deputy voter registrar. Persons who have a 911 address even if they are getting mail at a post office box should contact the tax office.

      RHS Class of 1998 plans 10th year celebration The Rusk High School Class of 1998 will have its 10th year class reunion at Jim Hogg City Park from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27. A barbecue lunch will be served at noon. Tickets will be $14 each in advance and $20 each at the park. Children under age five will eat free.

Alto church hosts revival
      Revival services are planned for Sunday, Sept. 14-Friday, Sept. 19 at the Alto First Assembly of God Church, corner of Highway 21 and Mill Street. Oklahoma evangelist Ray Walden will be speaker. Services are planned for 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sept. 14 and 7 p.m. Sept. 15-19.

Unity dinner, silent auction slates by Democrats
      Cherokee County Democrats will attend a unity dinner and silent auction at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, Eagle's Bluff Country Club in Bullard off FM 344 West and CR 187.       Louise Nicholson will celebrate her 99th birthday on Saturday, Sept. 13 at the First United Methodist Church of Rusk. The celebration will be held in the fellowship hall and will last from 3-5 p.m. Family and friends are invited to mark the joyous occasion.
