New regulations take effect Oct. 1 with goal of aiding producers, trappers, hunters

The recently formed Keep Rusk Beautiful organization presents its monthly Award to Good Samaritan in Rusk and its president, Kay Epperson. Through the year, Mrs. Epperson and her volunteers have cleaned, painted, and vastly improved the appearance of the building and property. Keep Rusk Beautiful, under the guidance of Chairman Teresa Langley, is working with the city of Rusk to raise public awareness on ways to improve the appearance of the community. Roberta Fae Nicholas, 92, of Scottsboro, Ala. formerly of Port Arthur and a Cherokee County native, died Aug. 25 at the Highlands Health and Rehab in Scottsboro.
