Alto student competes for FFA state presidency
ALTO ISD
      Alto High School student Matt Barnes, a FFA member, has been honored by receiving the Area Nine FFA presidency. Area Nine consists of 94 schools and 3500 FFA members. Matt received the district nomination and then competed at the area level. Fifty percent of the election is by a popular vote made up of the 94 schools.

Jared Moore will intern at NASA
ALTO ISD
      Jared Moore of Alto High School has been selected to participate in a summer internship at NASA'S Johnson Space Center in Houston. Nominated by State Rep. Chuck Hopson, Jared competed with more than 600 high school students to be part of High School Aerospace Scholars (HAS).

Hoops for Heart
     Rusk Elementary fourth and fifth graders participating in Hoops for Heart raised $4435.72. Their goal was $4000. Hoops for Heart is a program started by the American Heart Association. During the program students participated in 3 on 3 basketball games, knock out, and other basketball games. The top eight earners (top left to right) are Zach Morgan, Rachel Myers, Mary Jane Cavazoz, Ashton Petty, (bottom left to right) Ebony Griffin, Cassi Fletcher, Jamie Ballew and Nikki Rigsby.
