Rusk students will participate in international competition
      Cherokee Christian Academy students will represent Texas at international competition in May at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Mo. They received 34 awards for various achievements at the March 31-April 4 Southern Plains Regional Student Convention at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Encampment in Cedar Hill.

It's time to register 4-year-olds at Alto
      Melody Witt, Alto elementary principal, has announced the date for the PreK, four-year-old roundup for the 2008-09 school year. Sign-up date is from noon to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1, on the elementary campus. A child must be four years old by Sept. 1 to be eligible to enter this program. The program will be from 7:45 a.m.-3:35 p.m. each day.

Rusk band takes wins at UIL meet in Troup
Band awarded trophy for its 11th consecutive sweepstakes
      The Rusk High School Band earned its 11th consecutive sweepstakes award at the University Interscholastic League Contest April 17 in Troup. The sweepstakes award is the highest award attainable by a high school band in Texas.
