     Alto Elementary January students of the month attended a breakfast in their honor. Parents and teachers were invited to attend with their student. Bethel plans chili supper
      The Bethel United Methodist Church will sponsor its annual chili supper from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2 at the church fellowship hall. Different blends of chili will be offered. A free will offering will be taken and donations will go toward church expenses.

Wells organizes buyers group
      The Wells FFA chapter and 4-H club has started a buyers group and is currently looking for new members. A donation will not only help support the boys and girls active in these organizations, but will also be used to purchase animals for the children, who would like to participate in the county show, but do not have the means to purchase an animal.

Genealogical Society notes Black history Feb. 9
      The East Texas Genealogical Society will commemorate Black History Month at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at its meeting in the Taylor Auditorium at Tyler Public Library, 201 S. College Ave. The program, titled "Researching African American Ancestry" will be presented by Karen J. Matheson.
