Alto ISD enjoys academic, athletic success
      Once a year, The Cherokeean Herald asks that I as the superintendent of Alto ISD write an article highlighting Alto's school system. It is truly amazing to look back over the last 18 months and see the many accomplishments of Alto's students and staff. In literally every area, there has been marked improvement shown.

Cities request water from Lake Stryker
      An application has been made with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to divert water from the perimeter of Striker Creek Reservoir to allow the lake to sell water to municipalities.

Judges Bentley, Davis to entertain chamber
      Two local judges, 369th District Court Bascom Bentley and County Judge Chris Davis, will present entertainment for the 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, annual Rusk Chamber of Commerce banquet at the junior high cafeteria. Dress for the banquet will be 1950s attire. A sock hop will follow the banquet program.

Alto City Council to meet Monday
      The Alto City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14 at city hall, located at 404 West San Antonio St. Public comment is invited and speakers are limited to three minutes each. The meeting is the regular monthly meeting of the Alto City Council.
