Rusk 1st Baptist hosts evangelism conference
      The Rusk First Baptist Church will host the annual Cherokee Evangelism Conference Jan. 13-16. Kicking off the conference will be Don Cass, evangelism director for the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention, at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan.13. The Rev. Cass will also preach at a noon luncheon Monday, Jan. 14.

Awards presented Christmas dinner

      Sons of Confederate Veterans Cross of Saint Andrew camp #2009 were honored Dec. 14 with a Christmas banquet dinner hosted by the Southern Belles. The evening's festivities began with the opening prayer, the charge to the SCV and a tribute to southern soldiers followed by the salute to the flag.

      President Vic Whadford presented awards at the Jan. 3 Rusk Lions Club meeting. The awards came with comments of satisfaction for the achievers. First award given to Dan West included a plaque which read, "The Rusk Lions Club Chili King." Mr. West was instrumental in organizing and operating the best fund raiser- - the chili supper.
