Position sought

JAKE CARTER
Jake Carter has announced his candidacy for the Republican Party nomination for Constable Precinct 2 in Cherokee County.

Mr. Carter is currently a police officer in and for the City of Alto, where he has served for more than three years. He was employed at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department for five years before that. He began his law enforcement career as a correctional officer at the Cherokee County jail in August 1999. He worked at the jail for more than a year while attending the East Texas Police Academy. After graduation from the police academy he was hired as a deputy sheriff and served two years before being promoted to sergeant and warrant officer. He held that position for two years before resigning in 2004 to accept a position with the City of Alto, a position he now holds. In 2006 he also worked part-time as the court clerk for Justice of the Peace Pct. 2. He obtained personal experience in the civil process as the court clerk.

Mr. Carter regularly attends Hilltop Baptist Church in Alto where he teaches Sunday school, is active with the youth program and the praise and worship team.

He is 29, married and has four daughters. He said he has lived in Cherokee County for most of his life and he has no plans to leave.

"I believe that with more than seven years of full-time experience and being familiar with the judicial system I can benefit you, the people of Precinct 2 as your constable. I appreciate your support and prayers in the coming election," Mr. Carter said.
