Alto resident honored at Texas Southern School of Pharmacy

Joseph Williams, highest-ranking honor student of Alto High School Class of 2005 was honored at Texas Southern University School of Pharmacy Oct. 12 when he received his white coat, pin and cited the pharmacy oath. He is a certified pharmacy technician, a member and scholarship recipient of the Fredrick Douglass honors program, member of the Thurgood Marshall Club, a Tiger Ambassador and holds offices in pre-health professional organizations and the TSU student government.

He is on the TSU and the National Dean's list, TSU honor roll, TSU presidential list, Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges and the Golden Key International Honour Society. He and the other 114 students honored at the ceremony were accepted to the Doctor of Pharmacy Professional Degree Program out of more than 750 other applicants.

Entrance into the program is based on completion of 77 hours of pre-requisites, grade point average, Pharmacy College Admission Test scores, and personal interview. Students are expected to complete the program in May 2011.
