Jack White files for constable

JACK WHITE
Jack White announced his candidacy for Constable of Precinct 2 on the first day of filing, December 3. Mr. White, a Rusk resident since 1982, is a graduate of the Kilgore Police Academy and has been serving Cherokee County as a reserve deputy with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department for the past nine years. He currently holds a master peace officer certification as well as having earned his instructor proficiency and has completed more than 1,300 hours of law enforcement training in various courses accepted by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE).

Within the sheriff department, Mr. White continues to serve on the County SWAT team and has received training in tactical entry, warrant service, hostage negotiation, crime scene investigation, child abuse and management/ supervision. He also serves as the county arson investigator; with certification through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection and the National Association of Fire Investigators. He has completed training at the National Fire Academy at Emmitsburg Md. and the ATF National Fire Academy in Glynco, Ga.

Mr. White is active in the community and has served with the Rusk Volunteer Fire Department for more than 20 years. He is a founding member and current coordinator of the Cherokee County Search and Rescue Organization as well as a founding member and current coordinator of the Cherokee County Project Lifesaver Program. Mr. White served as the Emergency Management Coordinator for Cherokee County for 19 years ending in 2006 and is currently employed as a County Extension Agent with the Texas Cooperative Extension Service where he has served Cherokee County since 1982.

Mr. White is a graduate of both the Texas A&M University and the University of Texas at Tyler where he received his bachelors degree in economics and masters degree in education. He is a member of the Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church and is supported in his campaign by his daughter, Melissa Jones of Elkhart, and his son, Chris White of Bullard,.

When asked, Mr. White stated that he was running for this office out of a "genuine concern for the people of Cherokee County and his desire to be a committed, full-time peace officer for the citizens of Pct. 2."
