GOOD SAMARITAN Exciting things have been happening at the Good Sam center the past few weeks. Drive by and see the newly painted buildings. They look great. The interior of the main building also has been painted, and also the floors. A huge thanks to Warden Todd Foxworth of TDCJ and all the men who worked really hard for three weeks. Good job. The paint was donated by Wallace Thompson Hardware and Harry's Building Materials. Contributions have been made by individuals. Other funds are needed. Due to the work going on, the center has been closed to clients, but is open now and will begin distributing Christmas boxes beginning Monday, Nov. 26. Free clothing on hangers are placed on the rod under the covered shed at intervals. As inside space is limited and racks have to be thinned regularly items are moved to the shed to be given away. Persons will find some very good quality clothing there and are encouraged to stop by, browse and help themselves. Good Samaritan is sponsored by the Rusk Ministerial Alliance and the center is located on Second Street, off Barron in Rusk. Food is distributed to eligible applicants once a month. Clothing may be purchased for 25 cents per piece; shoes, 25 cents a pair; and household items and linens at slightly higher prices. The center is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9-11:30 a.m. |
