Elkhart man dies in fiery crash An Elkhart man was killed Sunday morning when his 1987 Ford pickup truck crashed into a fence on FM 347 south of Jacksonville and caught fire, said Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Jimmy Dunklin. Charles Ray, 65 of Elkhart, was killed by the flames. Trooper Dunklin said Mr. Ray was traveling southbound on FM 347, approximately one-tenth of a mile south of Jacksonville when his truck went off of the left side of the roadway and crashed through a fence. "He got turned around and ran through another fence, got stuck in the mud and the engine caught fire," Trooper Dunklin said. Trooper Dunklin said he believed alcohol could have been a factor in the accident. |
