Rusk girls soar over Troup

The Rusk Lady Eagles varsity basketball team soared over the Troup Lady Tigers 45-25 in Troup Saturday.

Rusk jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the first quarter and led the rest of the game. Jasmine Harris sank a threepointer to keep Rusk ahead.

Scoring for the Eagles were: Harris (18), Le'Asha O'Neal (11), Charnell Franklin (6), Jelissa Session (5) Brittany Session and Cambry Blakemore (two points each) and Kristen Hicks (1).

The junior varsity girls won 24-19. Scoring for Rusk were: Kierra Skinner (14), Brittany Johnson (7) and Grace Castillo (3).

Both teams advance to 2-0 on the season. The Rusk varsity will play in the Grace Community tournament this weekend with the JV heading to the Eustace tournament.

Rusk then travels to Alto at 4 p.m. Nov. 20.
