Indians end season with big plays, high emotion
Jacksonville says good-bye to 15 seniors
LARRY KRANTZ

HENDERSON - On paper, it should have been one of those games that meandered toward the final gun because neither team had anything tangible to play for.

Instead, the Jacksonville Indians closed out the 2007 football season with a 41-25 win against the Henderson Lions in a game filled with big plays and emotion.

Senior quarterback Paxton Lindsey threw a touchdown and ran for another as the Indians scored on five of seven first-half possessions to ring up a 34-0 halftime lead, then could only watch as the Lions rallied in the second half.

Henderson scored on four straight possessions to start the second half, including recovering an onside kick to start.

The Lions got as close as 34- 17 before Indians running back Chris Hall scored the second of his two touchdowns on fourthand 1 from the Henderson 29. Hall also scored on a 4-yard run early in the first quarter.

Jacksonville's leading rusher this season, Hall finished with a total of 424 yards and five touchdowns on 82 carries.

Jacksonville receiver/defensive back Kelvin Hall finished with four catches for 79 yards, but his biggest catch didn't come on offense, and his biggest play wasn't a catch.

Jacksonville quarterback Paxton Lindsey looks for a receiver while Joe Villavisencio tries to offer pass protection. Lindsey, a senior, was a versatile player for the Indians this season, lining up as quarterback and receiver. With the 41-25 win over Henderson, Jacksonville finishes the season with a 3-7 record, 2-5 in District 12-4A.
Kelvin Hall intercepted a pass in the end zone as the Lions tried to rally back in the first half. Hall's interception killed a 10-play, 61-yard drive with 5:06 remaining in the first half.

Just before the half ended, Jacksonville recovered a fumble on a botched Henderson hook-and-ladder play, where the original receiver tries to lateral to another player by design.

The lateral sailed high into the air and Jacksonville recovered with six seconds remaining.

As time ran out, quarterback Kyle Stacy heaved the ball down the home sideline where it bounced off of Kelvin Hall's shoulder pad and into the waiting arms of receiver Terrance Canady, who was standing in the end zone.

It was just that kind of night for Jacksonville, which couldn't buy a break in its first four District 12-4A games.

Kelvin Hall finished his Jacksonville career with 702 yards and four touchdowns on 47 receptions. The next closest receiver, Clint Copeland, finished with 15 catches.

Stacy, a junior, finished the season completing 48 of 85 passes for 527 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions.

Lindsey finished 62 of 131 for 747 yards five touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Both quarterbacks started multiple games this season as Jacksonville struggled to find a good fit between quarterback and playbook.

Lindsey and Kelvin Hall are among the 15 departing seniors from this year's team. The other seniors include Ryan Diers, Courtney White, Colten McCown, Brent Colvin, Jimere Palmer, Bo Cruz, Leon Jones, Rickey Campbell, Ryan Crews, Ryan Arrington, Joe Villavisencio, Chad Leinback and Matt Rowe.
