ISLA LUCILE BOYD Memorial service for Isla Lucile Boyd, 86, of Tyler, formerly of Nederland, was at 11 a.m Saturday, Nov. 17, in Centennial, Colo. A graveside service was held at Oakland Memorial Park in Center at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10. Miss Boyd was born Nov. 15, 1920, in Mercedes, to the Rev. James Cleveland Boyd and Isla Mae Splawn Boyd. She died Nov. 4 in Jacksonville. She was a career educator having taught in several school districts in Texas, retiring from the Port Arthur ISD. She was a college graduate and a World War II Air Force veteran, serving from 1942-45. She was honorably discharged with a rank of corporal. After retirement, she volunteered in the Nederland Independent School District. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Nederland, where she was a member of the Silvertones. Survivors are a sister, Elizabeth Carr of Centennial, Colo., and local relatives, Jim and Mary Brown. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 1911 Nederland Ave, Nederland 77627. Autry Funeral Home was in charge. |
